What is Holistic Nutrition?
Holistic Nutrition is the science of understanding the healing properties of foods, and how food choices affect not only our waistlines, but the optimal function of every cell and neural connection in our bodies.A Holistic Nutritionist also takes your lifestyle, your exercise, your habits, and your thought patterns and beliefs into consideration, and is trained to act as a coach and counselor for you while you make changes to your diet and lifestyle.
What can a Holistic Nutritionist do for me?
An RHN will assess your nutritional status according to your unique, individual needs. A program can be built for you that focuses on educating you in simple, easy to understand ways. You will learn about health promotion, disease prevention and healing, and walk away with a plan, designed just for you, that will outline which nutrients you may be deficient in and what body systems (such as Digestive, Cardiovascular etc) need support and balancing.You will be given education on:
- the specific sources of nutrients that will help you achieve Optimal Wellness
- why it is important to foster respect for your body
- what the term “Whole Foods” means and why whole foods are the best choice for our bodies and the Earth
- specific concerns you may have such as learning about the function of foods, cancer prevention, weight loss, lowering blood pressure, stress, anxiety, emotional eating issues etc.
- how to prepare whole foods without sacrificing nutrients, taste or pleasure!
